After a diving accident on Christmas day 1977, Stephen broke his neck at level C/5-6 and was now a quadriplegic.
After a lot of encouragement from his Mum, Dad and other people in the same predicament as him, he decided to give Mouth and Foot painting a go. He began painting in 1991 and after a lot of training and frustrations, began painting for the Mouth and Foot Painting Artist.
He was awarded a Student Membership in 1993. He has had several paintings accepted since then for publication and as a result printed onto cards. He enjoys painting landscapes in aprticular.
His other interests are Rugby, Cricket, Motor sports and Wheelchair Rugby (playing for and traveling with theAuckland Club since 1997).
